Louis Vuitton Roma Etoile Maison opening

As I already told you, I’ve had the pleasure to attend the opening party of the Louis Vuitton Maison Etoile in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, Rome, in a place dear to Romans: the iconic Etoile cinema. This is the first time that Louis Vuitton opens a Maison in Italy, and they decided to do it in one of Europe’s most important cultural cities.

As soon as you cross the entrance, the whole of the store is revealed to the visitor. Its three floors are linked by staircases with large, transparent scrolls, and they’re bathed in soft, overhead natural lighting. Inside of the store the visitors can find the house’s entire collection of ready-to-wear, the shoes and accessories, as well as leather goods and watches.

From January 29th to February 5th you will also be able to see the «special order» collection, comprising many historical trunks which belonged to movie stars.

Continuing the cinematic heritage of the Etoile, the Maison has dedicated a very special place to some short movies. Each month a new collection of films about a chosen theme will be presented to visitors in a special movie theatre situated on the first floor.

The first part of the evening took place inside the maison, completely designed by the architect Peter Marino, who attended the opening night together with the president of Louis Vuitton Yves Carcelle and the marvelous Cate Blanchett, Catherine Deneuve, Anna Dello Russo and Natalia Vodianova.

The second part of the evening left me completely speechless. It was held at the ex geologic institute, decorated as a sort of “art brothel”, with a troupe of actors dressed in a burlesque theme, who offered their performance after negotiating the price with the guests (we were given some fake LV coins to pay the performances). An amazing and very original idea!

The journey never ends…

Come vi ho anticipato, venerdì sera ho partecipato all’opening party della Maison Louis Vuitton Roma Etoile, la prima maison italiana, situata in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, in un posto molto caro ai romani: la sala cinematografica Etoile.

Fin dall’ingresso, il negozio si svela nel suo insieme agli occhi del visitatore e lo sguardo viene rapito dalle scale trasparenti che collegano i tre piani. All’interno dello store i visitatori possono trovare tutta la collezione prêt-à-porter, le scarpe, gli accessori, gli articoli di pelletteria e gli orologi.

Dal 29 gennaio al 5 febbraio inoltre sarà possibile ammirare la mostra di bauli «special order», ovvero una collezione di valigie storiche appartenute alle star del cinema.

Infine, nel rispetto della tradizione cinematografica, ogni mese la Maison offrirà la possibilità di assistere gratuitamente a proiezioni di preziose opere cinematografiche nell’apposita sala situata al primo piano dello store.

La prima parte della serata si è svolta all’interno dei 1200 metri quadri di negozio, interamente progettati dall’architetto Peter Marino, presente alla serata d’apertura insieme anche al presidente di Louis Vuitton Yves Carcelle e alle meravigliose Cate Blanchett, Catherine Deneuve, Anna dello Russo e alla modella Natalia Vodianova.

La seconda parte della serata mi ha lasciato completamente senza parole. Si è svolta nell’ex istituto geologico, allestito per l’occasione a “bordello d’arte”, con una compagnia di attori che, in un ambiente un po’ burlesque, offrivano le proprie performance dopo averne contrattato il prezzo con gli ospiti (all’ingresso infatti venivano consegnati delle monete finte da usare per pagare le performance). Un’idea davvero originale e molto divertente!
