last day in Venice with Louis Vuitton

During the second and last day of our adventure with Louis Vuitton we went to visit their shoe atelier in Fiesso d’Artico.
I wrote atelier and not factory because it’s a place really distant from the classic idea of a factory. From the outside the structure may remember a huge shoe box, and on the inside there are numerous works of art, and plenty of green areas that look a bit like Japanese Zen gardens.

Indeed, the entire complex is thought to offer a comfortable and pleasant environment to work in; you wouldn’t have guessed that all the floors below the production lines are hardwood floors, would you? They tried to make the most out of the natural light this place has, and I have to say that the result is amazing.

Every single shoe sold by Louis Vuitton in the world is designed, manufactured and shipped from this beautiful and immense structure, both for men and women. You can feel their attention to product quality everywhere: from the raw materials, which we played with, to the hand-made seams and paintings, to the strict final quality assurance tests. We had two exceptional guides for this tour: the head of the men shoes department, Massimo Carta, and the director of the whole atelier Patrice Guillelmin, both extremely passionate about the products they make and the whole Louis Vuitton world.

Il secondo e ultimo giorno della nostra avventura con Louis Vuitton siamo andati a visitare l’atelier di calzature a Fiesso d’Artico. Di Atelier si parla e non fabbrica, o perlomeno non fabbrica nel senso classico del termine. Da fuori la struttura può ricordare un’enorme scatola di scarpe e all’interno vi sono, oltre a numerose opere d’arte, delle aree verdi che ricordano un po’ i giardini zen giapponesi.

L’intero complesso è pensato per rendere piacevole l’ambiente a chi ci lavora; basti pensare che l’atelier all’interno ha pavimenti in parquet ed è luminosissimo grazie alle grandi vetrate che lo circondano.

In questa splendida e immensa struttura viene ideata, prodotta e spedita ogni singola scarpa venduta da Louis Vuitton nel mondo, sia da per uomo che per donna. La loro attenzione alla qualità si percepisce ovunque: a partire dai pellami, che abbiamo tastato in prima persona, alle cuciture e verniciature curate a mano, al severissimo controllo di qualità finale. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di essere accompagnati in questo tour da due guide eccezionali: il responsabile della divisione calzature uomo Massimo Carta e il direttore dell’intero atelier Patrice Guillelmin, entrambi estremamente appassionati riguardo ai prodotti che curano e riguardo all’intero mondo Louis Vuitton.
